What are the safety hazards of inferior cables?

1. Lack of complete product identification: According to the standard, cables must have professional quality inspection certificates and complete commercial identification, including product model, specification, place of origin, etc. When the identification does not conform to the standards, it will cause identification errors by construction personnel. In severe cases, it may even lead to electrical accidents.

2. The thickness of the sheath and insulation layer does not meet the standards: We all know that the quality of the outer sheath and insulation layer of the cable directly affects the service life of the cable. Therefore, if the outer sheath is not properly made, the cable is very likely to be punctured. Insufficient curvature of the insulating layer can also lead to the occurrence of hazards such as leakage, causing electrical short circuits and fires.

3. Non-compliant conductor resistance: To achieve the goal of cost reduction, defective manufacturers usually use inferior copper or reduce the cross-sectional area of the conductor. In this way, the resistance of the cable conductor will seriously exceed the standard. According to the regulations, the resistance of a conductor needs to be controlled within a certain range. Once the limit is exceeded, the current loss through the line will increase, making the cable prone to overheating. During use, it will accelerate the aging of the cable.

How to identify inferior cables?

1. Cable appearance observation: Cable products of guaranteed quality have a soft insulation (sheath) layer, good toughness and tensile strength, a smooth surface without roughness.

2. Check the cross-section of the cable: The internal copper core of a good cable is lustrous and will not produce black impurities when rubbed on white paper. The blackening of the core wire surface indicates that it has been oxidized.

3. Check the quality certificate: All cables produced by legal manufacturers have quality inspection certificates issued by relevant departments. If there is no certificate of conformity, the quality of the cable needs to be considered.
